Spain: Traces of explosives linked to IS discovered in debris of Alcanar house

Catalan police carried out a controlled explosion on a house in Alcanar on Friday, sending plumes of smoke into the air as the blast shook the coastal town for the second time in a week. Traces of an explosive called TATP, favoured by members of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIL/ISIS), was discovered within the debris alongside hundreds of bottles of butane gas. The first... Еще explosion, which happened on Wednesday, is thought to have been a random explosion of butane gas cylinders. It obliterated a house thought to be used as a laboratory for the assemblage of a bomb, and thwarted the groups' plans to carry out a major explosion. A van mowed down dozens of people along Las Ramblas in central Barcelona on Thursday. Police have reported that the incident has already claimed the lives of 14 people. The so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS, ISIL) have claimed responsibility for the attack.
