Hotels in Benidorm, one of Spain's main tourist cities, continue to close due to the country's coronavirus outbreak.
Footage recorded on Wednesday shows the deserted streets and the empty beaches in Benidorm, as well as tourists leaving the hotels that are closing their doors. Travellers and police officers can also be seen at the Alicante airport departure terminal.
All the hotels agreed to... Еще close their establishments throughout the Valencian Autonomous Community. Angela Barcelo, co-owner of the Hotel Les Dunes described the situation as «horrible», but explained that «it had to be done, for the safety of the clients, and obviously also for all the workers».
Spanish health authorities have recorded 2,538 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 13,716. The number of deaths amounts to 558, with a very uneven distribution throughout the Spanish territory, Madrid being the most affected region.
