Some 6,000 people gathered in the centre of Madrid on Saturday to protest against the Spanish government's handling of the coronavirus crisis.
The demonstration was called by far-right party VOX under the name of 'Caravan for Spain and its freedom.' Protesters' vehicles blocked all the streets that were authorised for the demonstration (Paseo del Prado, Alcala, Goya and Serrano), as well as some... Еще surrounding streets.
Protesters waved Spanish flags (including at least one pre-constitutional, Franco-era flag) and chanted for the resignation of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
Similar protests against the government of Pedro Sanchez have been taking place for days, as the country has begun to adopt measures to ease confinement restrictions put in place to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
As of Saturday, the country has registered 281,904 coronavirus cases and 28,628 deaths with the disease, according to Johns Hopkins University.
