Hundreds of students marched this Wednesday through the streets of central Barcelona to demand improvements in the university education system and denounce the precariousness accentuated by the coronavirus pandemic.
Footage shows the students marching chanting slogans and holding banners. Protesters lighting flares and police presence can also be seen.
«We are not having the classes as we would like to, and we want to especially defend the face-to-face lesson, because we have seen that public universities do not have enough resources due to the underfunding of education,» said Dana Sanchez, coordinator of the Progressive Students Association.
Meanwhile, Julia Rosanna Sanchez-Valverde, secretary general of the Youth Council of Catalonia said that students «have a deficient educational system, which year after year, reform after reform, has the same people as victims, which is us, the students».
Similar demonstrations were organized in various parts of Spain such as Madrid, Valencia and Granada.
