Javier Sanchez Santo, who claims he is the son of famed Spanish singer Julio Iglesias, appeared in a Valencia court for a hearing over the paternity case on Thursday.
Santo was accompanied by his mother, former dancer Maria Edite, who alleges Javier was born out of a summer fling she and the singer had in a dance club in Costa Brava in 1975.
«My mother was a victim, both my mother and I were... Еще victims of a formal error by the State,» said Santo upon his arrival at the court.
Fernando Osuna, who represented Santos in the case, expressed certainty Santos would emerge victorious as Iglesias had refused to take a paternity test.
«When a presumed father does not come to have the tests, the law is very clear, and it sanctions and punishes that person with becoming the father,» said Osuna.
Iglesias did not attend the court hearing himself but sent his legal representative Fernando Falomir to represent him at the proceedings.
«I'm facing the music, Julio isn't, but I have been facing it. Here I am and I have been there before the judge,» said Edite, who remains as the only witness in the case.
