Spain: Senate treats dozens of homeless people to Christmas Eve dinner

Around 150 homeless people attended a Christmas dinner in Spain's Senate in Madrid on Tuesday. The event was organised by the non-governmental organisation Messengers of Peace. Spain's Senate President Pilar Llop and NGO's president Father Angel joined the dinner offering food served by volunteers. «There is a beautiful story: we have plenty of volunteers. We have many senators who wanted to... Еще serve as volunteers, many people who... so sometimes we have more volunteers than attendees,» said Father Angel. Latest official numbers suggest there 23 thousand homeless people in Spain, but Catholic NGO Caritas says its workers attend to about 40 thousand homeless every day.
