Spain: Scores protest jailing of Catalan leaders

Scores of people gathered in Sant Jaume Square in Barcelona on Monday night after two prominent leaders of the Catalan independence were sent to jail under allegations of sedition. President of Catalan National Assembly (ANC) Jordi Sanchez and the President of Omnium Cultural Jordi Cuixart were sent to jail Monday night in Madrid while allegations of sedition are investigated. The pro-independence leaders are under investigation for allegedly organizing the independence referendum of Catalonia on the 1st of October. The results of the referendum were deemed illegal by the Spanish government.
