Spain: Saudi prince meets PM Rajoy amid criticism over defence ties

House of Saud heir Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy in Madrid on Thursday, in the face of fierce criticism over sales of military equipment to the kingdom. Ministers from both government signed co-operation agreements in five areas: culture, science, employment, air transport and defence. One of the agreements involves the multi-billion dollar sale... Еще of five Navantia cruise ships to Saudi Arabia. Between 2015 and 2017, Spain exported weapons worth €728 million ($897.6 million). Pressure group Arms Under Control urged Rajoy’s government not to sell more weapons to Saudi Arabia which could be used in the civil war in Yemen, which is undergoing a dire humanitarian. Earlier, the Crown Prince attended a banquet with Spain's King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia.
