Hundreds of thousands of protesters took to the streets of Barcelona on Saturday in support of Catalan independence and in solidarity with jailed pro-independence leaders.
Footage shows a vast crowd of demonstrators thronged in the streets of the Catalan capital, as well as a huge Catalan flag being held aloft by activists.
«Then we have to find a way out of all this. If they do not sit down... Еще to talk, then we need to demonstrate. Show the discontent and that this situation must be resolved in some way. If not, we will continue to go out on the streets forever. We have no limit. There is no end to this,» one protester named Joan said at the demonstration.
Protests started in Barcelona and other major cities of Catalonia after nine pro-independence leaders, who had organised the 2017 independence referendum, were found guilty of sedition, disobedience or misuse of public funds and were sentenced to between nine and 13 years in prison by the Supreme Court of Madrid. Since they began, hundreds have been injured in clashes and dozens placed under arrest.
