Thousands of taxi drivers brought central Madrid to a halt with their vehicles on Tuesday. They demanded the mayor's office to intervene adjusting the offer and the demand.
José Miguel Fernandez, spokesman for the Madrid Professional Taxi Federation, said: “We can't stay on the street when every taxi unit has expenses and right now the expenses are bigger than the income. I think we must come to an agreement and regulate this sector.»
Madrid mayor Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida, said the City Council has no power to reduce the fleet, as requested by protesters.
