Spain: Locals return to bars terraces in Valencia as lockdown eases

Bars in Denia and Gandia, two Spanish coastal towns in the Valencia region, reopened their terraces on Monday on the first day of Phase 1 of the easing of coronavirus restrictions. «I am very happy today. I feel normal and alive. Having a coffee is incredible. It is like a new life,» said Simone, a client of a bar in Denia, while sitting on the terrace of the establishment. «After so long inside... Еще our house, keeping extreme security measures, now you go out and you can meet some friends and have a drink on a terrace. It feels so good» added Maria del Carmen, another client of the establishment. Bars located in territories that have initiated Phase 1 of the easing of restrictions have been permitted to open their terraces at half of their normal capacity. With 227,436 confirmed cases and 26,744 deaths from coronavirus, Spain, the second country in the world most affected by the pandemic, ends almost two months of mandatory confinement, although this de-escalation process is being carried out by territories and not in the whole country at the same time.
