Spain: Imprisoned pro-independence Catalan officials to request release in Supreme Court

Jailed pro-independence Catalan separatists Joaquin Forn, Jordi Cuixart and Jordi Sanchez arrived at the Supreme Court of Madrid on Thursday, in an attempt to see that their preventive detention is revoked. The trio will declare their request before Judge Pablo Llarena. PDECat, ERC and Democrates gathered in front of the Supreme Court to give support to the imprisoned officials. Member of... Еще Spanish Parliament for Republican Left of Catalonia, Joan Tarda, was also present and spoke to the press, describing himself as «pessimistic considering the fact of what happened a few days ago in relation to Oriol Junqueras» who he claimed was no longer a political prisoner, but 'a hostage.' With the session still ongoing, local media reports that the defence plans to request the release of Forn, Sanchez and Cuixart in writing. The documents will be handed in on either Thursday or Friday, with the court's final decision to follow in the coming days. Former president of the Catalan Parliament, Carme Forcadell (ERC), who was imprisoned but paid the bail and was released, also announced that she not resume her position earlier in the day.
