Hundreds of Nissan workers protested in Barcelona on Thursday against the closure of the Barcelona factory, and demanded the repeal of article 51 of the Workers' Statute, which makes layoffs easier.
Protesters took to the Passeig de Gracia street with banners and chanted slogans against the closure of the Japanese company's car manufacturing facilities in Spain.
Dani, a Nissan worker, said that their demands towards the company are «to reverse the situation and keep the jobs. Since they have taken advantage of government subsidies, now they should let us work.”
Workers from suppliers and subcontractors of the automobile industry also attended the protest.
