Hundreds of people swamped the streets of Madrid on Sunday to mark the beginning of Pride's 50th anniversary celebrations under the motto «Black Trans Lives Matter.»
Hundreds of protesters were seen waving Black Trans Lives Matter banners and pride flags in Madrid city centre, before they rallied at the iconic Puerta del Sol square to show their support for the black LGBT+ community during the celebrations of Pride month.
«We demand an end to the transphobic violence, to which we are exposed every day. Inflicted violence over our own bodies via police apparatus that threatens us, harass us and violate us,» said a protester and one of the organisers of the rally, as they asked the Spanish Government to take a stronger stance against systematic racial and gender bias prejudices.
Anti-racism protests have swept the world following the death of 46-year old George Floyd at the hands of police in the US on May 25.
