Spain: Hundreds demonstrate against poor conditions of migrants on the Greek-Turkish border

Hundreds of people gathered in front of the European Commission's headquarters in Barcelona on Tuesday to protest what they consider to be human rights violations against migrants who remain on the border between Greece and Turkey. Footage shows the demonstrators with posters and banners denouncing the decisions of the European Commission, outside its headquarters in Barcelona. Police officers... Еще can also be seen watching the protest. «We have called on the citizens of Barcelona here this afternoon, in front of the European Union delegation, to denounce the human rights violations that are taking place on the border between Greece and Turkey, and to denounce the fact that refugees are being abused as bargaining chips for the geopolitical interests of states,» said Clara Caldero, spokesperson for the Stop Mare Mortum social platform. Another protester said the situation of migrants «is an injustice. We have millions of people who are dying on the borders of Europe. And Europe does nothing.» On Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that his country's borders with Europe were open to the transit of migrants. Erdogan has accused the European Union of not fulfilling its financial promises to Turkey in exchange for keeping Turkey's borders with the EU closed to the transit of refugees.
