More than 2,000 people took to the streets of the Spanish city Linea de la Concepcion, which lies north of the border between Spain and the British territory of Gibraltar, on Saturday to protest a no-deal Brexit.
Protesters, mainly Spanish workers holding positions in the Gibraltar region, marched through several streets of the city with flags of Gibraltar and the European Union, calling for... Еще cross-border workers’ rights to be respected.
Workers fear financial losses due to a possible fall in pound's value and difficulties in crossing the border, in the case of no-deal Brexit.
«There are now some 11,000 people who live in our locality and are paid in pounds because they work in Gibraltar and suffered a significant drop in their salary,» said Mayor of La Linea de la Concepcion Juan Franco.
On Saturday, the UK Parliament passed a backbench amendment put forth by Oliver Letwin to withhold the approval of the Brexit deal until the legislation to enact it, is passed.
