Spain: Former Catalan officials speak out as they leave Madrid court

Nine former officials from the Catalan government appeared before Audiencia Nacional, Spain’s High Court, in Madrid on Thursday accused of rebellion, sedition and misuse of public funds. Supporters of the accused gathered outside the court chanting 'freedom' for the accused. Alberto Garzon, a Deputy of the Spanish Parliament, gave a statement to the press criticising the actions of the chief... Spain has been involved in a constitutional crisis ever since the referendum of 1 October, when a constitutional court declared the vote illegal following the unilateral declaration of independence.
