Spain: Foreigners lament delays in sorting paperwork as pandemic disrupts police work

Hundreds of foreign nationals were filmed queuing in front of the Aluche police station in Madrid on Thursday to try to get their papers sorted. As police resumed work on matters of residence following the lockdown the demand has seemingly has exceeded the capacity of the authorities. Thousands of applications were still pending as the police stations limited the numbers of visitors due to the social distance regulations. Many foreigners turned to buying and selling appointments, which can reportedly be purchased at law firms, call centers and even online for up to 200 euros.
