A group of FEMEN activists protested to condemn gender violence, and specifically the victims of violence during confinement, at Madrid's Puerta de Alcala on Friday.
The activists are seen wearing masks, funeral veils and wreaths while chanting slogans in front of the monument.
The activists had texts written on their bare bodies such as «Machismo pandemic» and «Real State Pact now.»
According to local media reports, charges of male violence soared by 61 percent during the state of alarm. However, killings were reduced by less than half. Experts attribute the drop in homicides in part to the difficulty of breaking restraining orders by convicted aggressors.
