Spain: Estelada-waving crowd protests Rajoy appearance in Salou

Around 200 people protested in front of the auditorium where Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy was due to speak in the town of Salou, near Tarragona, on Sunday. Protesters waved Estelada flags and sported yellow scarves — symbols of Catalan independentism — as they demanded freedom for jailed Catalan government officials and activists. The auditorium was holding a meeting of Rajoy’s... Еще Popular Party (Partido Popular, PP) in anticipation of the December 21 Catalan regional elections. On December 21, Catalans are set to vote for 135 lawmakers in the regional parliament, which has been dominated by pro-independence parties since 2015. Mandatory credit: ACN
