Spain: Daily COVID-19 death toll falls for fourth day in a row

Spanish authorities announced 4,273 new cases of coronavirus and 637 deaths over the past 24 hours on Monday, signalling the lowest number of daily deaths in almost two weeks, and continuing a four-day downward trend in fatalities. Footage recorded in Madrid on Monday shows the facilities of the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Maranon and the field hospital that was set up on the site to... Еще deal with the huge influx of critical patients during the outbreak. Some members of the hospital's medical staff shared their views on the evolving situation. «I think we're all going to get through this,» said Maria Angeles Garcia, adding «it doesn't matter if it's a lawyer, a politician, a doctor or a cleaner». Others, like Maria Fuentes, were more cautious. «I don't really trust what I see,» she said outside the medical center. «We always have sick people waiting, always,» she added. The Spanish government declared a state of emergency on March 14, with President Sanchez announcing on April 4 that the measures will be extended until at least April 26. As of Monday, more than 135,000 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Spain, with 13,169 deaths.
