Spain: Catalan VP says two jailed leaders are ‘strong, calm’

The vice president of the Catalan National Assembly (ANC) Agusti Alcoberro said on Tuesday that the two jailed Catalan leaders are strong, calm and convinced they will overcome the crisis. He said that he talked with the lawyer of Jordi Sanchez and Jordi Pina: «He told me that he was about to see them, about to get in (prison). Therefore, the two arrested, Jordi Sanchez and Jordi Cuixart had... Еще been incommunicado so far but at that moment arrangements were being made for them to talk. We know that they are fine, that they're strong, with a calm spirit and convinced that they'll overcome this situation because they know they're not criminals and all this is a strictly political process» Alcoberro also expressed his gratitude to those, who went on the streets of Barcelona in support of imprisoned leaders: «We want to express (gratitude) for the solidarity of the people who spontaneously made pot-banging protests and the civil organizations that protested. We're convinced that this evening will be a success of mobilization.» He added, saying that at this moment both organizations — ANC, Omnium Cultural are being reorganized, stressing that they continue being active with a great enthusiasm. President of Catalan National Assembly Jordi Sanchez and President of Omnium Cultural Jordi Cuixart were sent to jail Monday night in Madrid by a high court judge. The investigation into the pair stems from a September 20 protest in which a massive crowd blocked Spanish Civil Guard officers from a government building in Barcelona. The judge ruled the two must remain in prison without bail.
