Spain: Catalan protesters decry officals' arrests in Barcelona

Hundreds of Catalan protesters rallied outside the Ciutat de la justicia (High Court of Justice) in Barcelona on Friday, to protest against the arrests of 14 Catalan government officals. Protester Vannessa explained that, «We've come to support our politicians, to be listened, voting is note a crime and we want to be free once at all.» Another protester added, «I could be for independence or... Еще not, it doesn't matter, that's not the problem, it's a matter of freedom of expression.» Some 700 mayors face the risk of being arrested for supporting the independence referendum. Catalan citizens will vote in an upcoming historic independence referendum on October 1, in a ballot that has been ruled illegal and unconstitutional by the Spanish Supreme Court.
