Spain: Catalan President holds anti-terrorist meeting following Cornella knife attack

Catalan President Quim Torra held an anti-terrorist coordination meeting in Barcelona on Monday, following the knife attack on Cornella's Mossos d'Esquadra police station that took place earlier in the day. Catalan Interior Minister Miquel Buch stated that «this is an isolated case with police, in this case the Mossos d'Esquadra, as a target, but he [the attacker] is neutralised now... Еще.» According to Mossos d'Esquadra Chief Miquel Esquius, «the intent to kill the policeman was clear and evident, and the action of the policeman was only done in self-defence.» Earlier in the day, a man carried out a knife assault on a police station in the Catalan town of Cornella. The suspect was later shot dead by a police officer. The man, identified as Abdelouahab Taib, is said to have entered the police station holding a large knife and reportedly shouting 'Allah Akbar.' The assault is being treated as a «terrorist attack.»
