Spain: Catalan leaders join protesters to demand freedom for Sanchez and Cuixart

Representatives of the Catalan government including Catalan President Carles Puigdemont stood outside the Palau de la Generalitat, in Barcelona, Tuesday, to protest against the imprisonment of Catalan leaders Jordi Sanchez and Jordi Cuixart. They were joined by Barcelona Mayor Ada Colau and hundreds of protesters on Sant Jaume Square. Sanchez and Cuixart have been held without bail since Monday... The two leaders were key figures in organising protests in support of the Catalan independence referendum, a vote that was deemed 'illegal' and 'unconstitutional' by the Spanish government. Protesters chanted 'independence' and held Catalan flags and banners demanding the release of the two men whom they consider to be 'political prisoners.'
