Spain: Catalan leaders free after refusing to testify before judge

Pro-Catalan independence leaders of the Popular Unity Candidacy (CUP) Marta Llorens and Oriol Ciurana have walked from a Reus court after appearing on Thursday charged with inciting hatred. The CUP representatives were met by a strong crowd of supporters holding signs demanding freedom for all Catalan political prisoners. The pro-independence leaders are accused of 'instigating hatred... Еще' against the Spanish National Police after reading a statement condemning police actions during the Catalan independence referendum on October 1. A Spanish judge had attempted to question Llorens and Ciurana twice but they reportedly failed to testify.
