Spain: Catalan activists urge authorities to 'unlock' their rights and freedoms amid lockdown

Democratic activists from the Catalan 'Plataforma 3 Octubre' group held a peaceful demonstration in Barcelona on Saturday, urging the authorities to «unlock» their rights and freedoms affected by the pandemic restrictions. The first authorised rally since the beginning of the lockdown was called at Barcelona's heart of political life — Sant Jaume square, hosting the house of Catalan government... Еще and the city hall and gathered 50 people, being the maximum amount allowed by the authorities. In order to join the demonstration, the activists had to register in advance. Under the slogan «unlock our rights and freedoms», protesters, keeping a safe distance and wearing face masks, read a manifest and waved their banners calling for expanding the democratic rights of Catalans.
