The bullfighting sector has asked the Spanish government for support in order to celebrate spectacles and popular festivities in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak, which has seriously affected the bullfighting season.
Footage filmed on Monday in Madrid shows the renowned Las Ventas bullring in the Spanish capital, which this year will remain closed during the traditional San Isidro fair, in... Еще which a large number of bullfights are held.
«The activity is one hundred percent stopped,» explains Rafael Garcia Garrido, executive director of the bullfighting website Plaza 1, «and we are also suffering from the uncertainty of not knowing when we will be able to come back.»
«Maybe we could measure the temperature of the public at the entrance, or make the use of protective masks mandatory, although it may seem a little strange,” says García, adding that maintaining the safety distance in the stands will be «very difficult” since the bullfighter “needs the heat of the people when he performs.»
Several fighting bulls, the kind typically used in fights, could also be seen at the Mariano de Leon ranch in Casarrubios del Monte, Toledo.
