Barcelona defender and French World Cup winner Samuel Umtiti arrived at court in Esplugues de Llobregat on Thursday to answer a civil lawsuit claiming there was €183,000 ($202,000) in damages caused to a property he had rented.
Umtiti, 26, is disputing the charges, reportedly saying the fee that the owners of the Baix Llobregat villa are seeking is far too high. It is claimed that the damage done... Еще to the luxury property extended to the swimming pool.
He appeared at 11am local time as requested and the hearing lasted for an hour, during which he testified, denying that he had hosted any parties before he left on December 3, 2018.
Due to the timing of the summons, Umtiti missed morning training with his Barca teammates but will apparently fly out to the Basque Country to be present with the squad when they take on Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey on Thursday night.
