Spain: Balearic govt. isolates 10 people in Peguera hotel due to COVID-19 case

The Balearic Government's Department of Health and Consumption reported that 10 national tourists have been isolated in a hotel in Peguera, Mallorca, after one of them tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. Footage shows the premises of the hotel Morlans Garden in Peguera, where the tourists are reportedly isolated. «I've seen ambulances, and people in white [protective] suits and all that,» said Carum, a shopkeeper who lives next to the hotel, and then questioned the extent of the isolation, adding that “people have told me they go out for walks.» According to local media reports, the Balearic Islands have had 24 outbreaks and nearly 200 cases of coronavirus in the last few days. The local government fears that the situation will negatively affect the tourist season, already badly hit by the imposition of a quarantine by the United Kingdom for all its residents returning from the popular holiday destination. Spain has been one of the countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic with 285,430 infections since the beginning of the outbreak and 28,443 deaths related to the disease, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University.
