South Korea: Samsung's heir Lee Jae-yong handed 5 year sentence for corruption

Samsung's billionaire heir Lee Jae-yong was sentenced to 5 years in prison for corruption charges at Seoul Central District Court, Friday. Only son of Lee Kun-hee, Chairman of Samsung, Lee was initially arrested on February 17 in connection with a corruption scandal involving former South Korean President Park Geun-hye. He was accused of giving millions of dollars in donations to non-profit... Еще foundations run by a confidante of President Geun-hye, Choi Soon-sil, in exchange for political support. Park was impeached in December 2016 after facing accusations of conspiring to extort tens of millions of dollars from South Korean businesses along with Choi Soon-sil. Her case is currently being heard by the constitutional court.
