South Korea: IOC warning after winner dedicates medal to banned athletes

International Olympic Committee spokesperson Mark Adams said athletes 'should not only abide by the letter of the law, but by the spirit of the law' after he was asked about comments made by bronze medallist Semion Elistratov in PyeongChang on Monday. Semion Elistratov is a Russian short-track speed-skater who has become the first medallist in the PyeongChang Olympics 2018, winning bronze in... Еще the 1500m. After his success he gave an interview saying, “I dedicate this medal to all the guys [banned Russian athletes] who unfortunately were so, probably, vilely and disgustingly and without any explanations banned [from the Olympics]. This medal is for you, do not give up, and fight to the end. In December last year IOC issued a “Conduct Guidelines” for the “Olympic Athlete from Russia” and the special implementation group to be monitoring the application of these guidelines.
