South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa commented on the «unprecedented» situation in the history of the country to go out and «wage war» on «an invisible enemy,» referring to the coronavirus, in Johannesburg, Thursday. The country entered a 21-day lockdown to prevent further spread of the disease.
«Our country has never been through a period like this, this is unprecedented, not only in our... Еще democracy, but also in the history of our country,» stated Ramaphosa.
«This very tough decision that our country has taken, to lock down South Africa, and to only allow minimal movement. It is through this that we hope and trust that we will be able to level off the incidents of infection,» explained the President before adding that their task was to save lives and minimise the infection rate.
According to the president, 927 coronavirus cases have been registered in the country so far.
