Tensions were running high as a protest by South African farmers was met by a counter-demo by the members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) ahead of a murder case court hearing in Senekal on Friday.
«I can't sleep at night. I don't want to see any more murders. They are viciously terrorist attacks. They are not normal crimes,» said a white protester in the wake of the killing of 21-year-old farmer Brendin Horner whose mutilated body was found this month outside Paul Rioux in Free State province.
The two suspects, 32-year-old Sekwetje Isaiah Mahlamba and 44-year-old Sekola Piet Matlaletsa appeared in court in connection with the murder.
During the first hearing, farmers had stormed the court and fired shots carrying «Boer (farmer) Lives Matter» signs.
