Slovenia: Syrian govt. should start dialogue with Kurds — Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held talks with his Slovenian counterpart Karl Erjavec in Ljubljana on Wednesday, discussing bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues. Answering a question regarding the situation in Syria, Lavrov stated that all «external players», especially those represented in Syria, should realise the «need to start a dialogue with the Syrian... Еще government» within the framework of the «principle of the sovereignty.” Lavrov also mentioned that the Syrian government should also be «guided by the principle of sovereignty throughout its territory» and «talk with all representatives of ethnic and confessional groups, including the Kurds.» The Russian FM also mentioned that the official spokesperson for the US State Department «publicly and proudly» said that all American ambassadors have strict instructions to «demand that a state does not cooperate with the Russian Federation because the US introduced sanctions.» «It is enough to hear this fact to understand on what principles the Americans are building their relations with foreign states,» Lavrov concluded. Discussing the bilateral relations between Russian and Slovenia, Erjavec said Ljubljana can offer Moscow “very good solutions, both technological and in other areas. The Slovenian economy is now firmly on its feet.”
