Slovakia: Russia gets third consecutive victory at IIHF World Championship

The Russian National ice hockey team has achieved its third consecutive victory at the 2019 IIHF World Championship on Monday, this time shutting out the Czech Rep. 3-0 at the Ondrej Nepela Arena in Bratislava. Forwards Sergei Andronov and Nikita Gusev as well as Defenseman Nikita Zaitsev each scored once for Russia. The Czech squad did not manage to respond with a single puck in Andrey... Еще Vasilevskiy's net, despite lots of opportunities in the second and third periods and fierce support from their fans, who dominated the stands of the Arena. Speaking to journalists after the game, Andronov praised his team mate Defenseman Dinar Khafizullin for a perfect assist, allowing him to score. “A game is generally a sequence of mistakes and the side which is able to gain more from them, wins the match. Well, Dinar [Defenseman Dinar Khafizullin] gave me a great pass I had only to shoot on goal and that's it,» said the player. The 2019 IIHF World Championship kicked off in the two Slovakian cities of Bratislava and Kosice last Friday. After three wins in Group B over Norway, Austria and now the Czech Republic, Russia will be playing its next game against Italy on May 15. The Czech team will take on Latvia on May 16.
