Slovakia: Hosts stun USA 4-1 at ice hockey world championships

Slovakia upset the odds to beat the USA 4-1 in their opening game of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Bratislava on Friday night. Slovak youngster Marian Studenic praised his side's performance in the mixed zone after the match. «We were just on them all game. Erik Cernak, Tomas Tatar and Michal Kristof all netted. Both teams are placed in Group A, together with Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany and the UK. Slovakia face Finland next on Saturday, while Team USA play against France on Sunday. The 2019 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championship is being held in Slovakia from May 10 to 26.
