Singapore locals shared their thoughts on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's announcement of a general election in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, following President Halimah Yacob decision to dissolve parliament, Tuesday.
One of the locals wasn't surprised by the move, «I mean all the way they are doing this way and nobody argues, so they are carrying on for how many years, I don't know.»
Another local agreed, saying, «I think we just have to accept it.»
One more resident stressed how hard it was to stay safe amid the pandemic and be able to recover from the current harsh reality, for which he deemed important to have the «proper» person leading them.
According to reports, a total of 93 elected seats are expected to be contested on July 10 in the Southeast Asia nation, with People's Action Party candidates to stand as favourites.
