Head of the Serbian Orthodox Church Patriarch Irinej led the Christmas Day liturgy at the temple of Saint Sava in Belgrade on Tuesday. The liturgy was attended by hundreds of worshippers.
Belgrade's Mayor Zoran Radojicic, the president's Secretary Nikola Selakovic and Catholic Archbishop of Belgrade Stanislav Hocevar also attended the event, where they were joined by Crown Prince of Yugoslavia... Еще Alexander and Princess Katherine.
Christmas is celebrated on January 7 in Serbia, according to the Julian calendar. Orthodox Christmas is also celebrated by worshippers in Russia, Georgia, Bulgaria and Macedonia, among other countries.
