Serbia: KLA veterans protest war crimes charges against Kosovo President Thaci

Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) veterans gathered to protest against war crimes charges brought against the Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and other former members of KLA, in Pristina’s city centre, on Thursday. Around a hundred demonstrators rallied while holding Albanian, NATO and US flags. Protesters were wearing masks and observing social distancing. Head of the KLA War Veterans’ Organisation Hysni Gucati said the charges filed by Kosovo Specialist Prosecution in the Hague was «politically influenced by a part of the international community that has been doing this to the KLA for 20 years» and was «orchestrated by both Serbia and its allies.» «This proposal is a direct attack on Kosovo and its freedom brought about by a just war,» he added. The charges have been filed against Thaci and several other officials, including former Speaker of the Assembly, Kadri Veseli, at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague, over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.
