Hundreds of protesters gathered to protest against the «Mirdita» festival, which promotes Kosovo- Albanian culture, in Belgrade on Thursday.
Protesters marched from the nearby Saint Sava temple to the venue where the festival was held where police blocked them from disrupting the start of the festival and kept them apart from festival-goers.
Protesters sang nationalists songs about Kosovo and waved Serbian flags. They chanted songs against Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic calling him Albanian.
«Mirdita, dobar dan» (Good day — in Albanian and Serbian ) festival is held every year in Belgrade. Various plays, movies and meetings on the topic of Kosovo-Albanian culture are held during three days festival. It is organised by the Youth Initiative for Human rights to encourage dialogue between Kosovar and Serbian artists.
