The Alexandrov Ensemble, formerly known as the Red Army Choir, were invited to a ceremony at a park in central Belgrade, Serbia on Friday. The park was renamed Park Alexandrov, in honour of the world-famous choir. Еще Culture Minister Vladan Vukosavljevic explained why the park was renamed: «Today is almost a year since the great tragedy hit the Alexandrov Ensemble. That tragedy triggered us to rename this beautiful park after the honourable and great Alexandrov Ensemble.» On Christmas Day 2016, a plane carrying 64 members of the Alexandrov Ensemble crashed, killing all passengers on board. This is the newly reformed choir's first visit to Belgrade since the accident.
