Serbia: 24th anniversary Srebrenica vigil faces counter-protest

Serbian citizens and members of various human rights NGO's lit candles to commemorate the 24th anniversary of Srebrenica massacre in front of the Serbian Presidency building in Belgrade on Thursday. The vigil was attended by several ambassadors posted in the country, including representatives from the US, Germany and Italy. Counter-protesters continually interrupted the ceremony with a megaphone... Еще and strung up banners questioning the genocide. Over 8,000 Bosniak men and boys were murdered and thousands of women and girls were sexually assaulted and tortured when units of the Bosnian Serb Army of Republika Srpska overran the UN ‘safe area’ of Srebrenica in July 1995.
