The Argentinian town of Tandil broke the world record for the longest salami with their 99.5 metre (326 foot), longer than the Statue of Liberty is tall, as footage shot on Saturday shows.
The world record-breaking salami, which weighs 278 kilos (613 pounds) in all, was presented to hundreds of hungry onlookers, who got a chance to taste it, at the 37th edition of the Sierra culinary festival... Еще.
The gigantic sausage took «36 days and more than 100 people» to be completed according to organiser Mariano Frias stated.
«You have to be very careful and have a team with a lot of experience and coordination. These 100 people have to be coordinating with each other, any wrong folding that is made to the salami can generate a pressure difference in the tip and it may cause a rupture in the salami,» added Frias.
The organisers of the event, the Council of Denomination of Origin Salame de Tandil, broke their own 2019 record where they presented a salami that was 87.56 metres (287 foot) long and 262 kilos (578 pounds) in weight.
