Shahdab Ahmad, a resident of Saniarpur, told redfish how Muslims have been targeted by authorities under the BJP government: “Muslims are being framed in… terrorist cases without any proof, by false means. Our BJP government who have been in power for the last 5 years, gave a free pass to all the Hindus who were involved in the terrorist cases.“
Sonia, a student activist, explained that the threat of fascism should be taken seriously: “I think right now is a time when one should believe in international solidarity and come together to fight fascism or even hints of it, a lot of attacks and lynchings are happening on the Muslim and the Dalit community.“
Achin Vanaik, a writer and social activist, believes that countering the BJP’s rise means radically changing India’s economic system: “BJP’s strength is that they’re a transformative project for India — you have to counter with an alternative transformative project which cannot simply be this kind of existing neoliberal capitalism...”
