Russia: Young athlete with Down syndrome chosen to open World Cup

SOT, Angelina Makarova, (Russian): “Yes!” Schoolgirl Angelina Makarova, who lives with a Down syndrome, was selected to open the 2018 FIFA World Cup this week. She was chosen to lead the teams onto the pitch at the opening match between Russia and Saudi Arabia, and also to help the referee with the coin toss. Angelina is the face of a Coca-Cola campaign which is aimed to draw attention to people with disabilities.
