A military parade was held on St. Petersburg's Palace Square on Wednesday to commemorate the Siege of Leningrad.
A total of 55 historic tanks including the T-34, T-38 and KV-1, as well as artillery pieces and captured Nazi German hardware were on display. Many of the items were found on battlefields of WWII and restored by specialists from the city’s Siege of Leningrad Museum. Special events... Еще will be held from August 9 to August 13.
Starting on September 8, 1941, the Siege of Leningrad lasted around 900 days and is estimated to have claimed the lives of around one million civilians. The siege was lifted in full on January 27, 1944.
