Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny stated that he was ready to win 2018 presidential election during a meeting with his supporters in Moscow on Sunday. Navalny promised not to let his supporters down and «transform our country into the beautiful Russia of the future.» He also warned the authorities that if he was not allowed to participate in the campaign an “all-Russian strike of voters... Еще” would be staged. Navalny was voted unanimously as an opposition candidate for the presidential election run, as voters raised their ballots in favour of his nomination. The head of Russian Сentral Election Committee (CEC) stated that Navalny is not eligible to participate in the presidential election since he was conditionally sentenced for the embezzlement of “Kirovles” and has an outstanding conviction. However, the Russian CEC will consider the applications of all candidates following the necessary pre-election procedures of party congresses and meetings.
