Russia: Washington to blame for Iran’s partial withdrawal from nuke deal — Peskov

Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitri Peskov said that Teheran’s decision to partially withdraw from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) nuclear deal is a result of Washington’s «unthought-out steps» towards Iran, speaking to journalists in Moscow on Wednesday. «President Putin has repeatedly spoken about his commitment to the JCPOA, the importance of the deal and the absence of any alternative... Еще to it at present», noted Peskov, adding that «Russian diplomats will continue to discuss this topic, including with European partners, in order to keep the document viable». Earlier this morning Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced a partial withdrawal from the JCPOA nuclear deal in his TV statement from Tehran. The Iranian leader set a 60-day deadline for the remaining deal signatories to come up with new terms to salvage the deal. Rouhani's announcement falls on the first anniversary of US President Donald Trump's decision to pull the United States out of the international nuclear deal.
