Russia: Veselnitskaya calls US charges attempt to hide Magnitsky Act bribery facts

Russian Lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya called charges filed by the US federal court against her on Tuesday an attempt to prevent facts about «the undermining of justice and the bribery of the Congress» related to the Magnitsky Act from being made public. She was speaking in a phone interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel in Moscow on Wednesday. «I believe it is aimed at preventing me from doing... Еще my job which is very problematic for the USA, in particular, in relation to the Magnitsky Act, to the undermining of justice and the bribery of Congress. We have facts about these issues,» she said. Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya came to the world's attention after her meeting with Donald Trump's son, which some have used to point to alleged Russian 'meddling' during the 2016 US Presidential election. Veselnitskaya herself had previously asserted that the meeting was «fleeting and inconsequential.» Now Veselnitskaya is charged with obstruction of justice during the investigation into money-laundering case of the Prevezon Holdings company that was settled in 2017. The indictment states that while being a part of a defence team she «well knew but concealed from the court» that she participated in drafting of an «intentionally misleading» report on the case submitted by Russia «in secret cooperation with a senior Russian prosecutor». If found guilty, she might face up to 10 years in prison. Courtesy to Rossiya-24
